Every space has unique heating and cooling needs. That’s why we offer ductless mini-split systems, giving you the freedom to customize the temperature of each room individually.
If you have decided to replace a poorly performing window air conditioner, or have no air conditioning in your home, and don’t wish to install the ductwork necessary for a Central HVAC unit, then Ductless split systems (or “mini-splits”) are a solid alternative.
The biggest one-up this technology provides versus ducted systems is zone control. You can choose on a daily basis exactly which rooms to cool/heat, leaving out rooms that you rarely use, say guest bedrooms. The energy savings speak for themselves!
Many of CustomAir LLC’s customers consider ductless systems as they are compatible with older homes. Pre-1970s homes don’t have built-in ductwork, because central HVAC hadn’t been introduced back then. Customers living in these homes have to decide if they want to retrofit with ductwork (which requires a complex construction project), or to just install ductless A/C in some areas of their homes.
Another use case for mini-splits is if our customer already has ductwork in their home, but there are rooms that the central unit doesn’t cover (usually true for basements and attics): the customer can extend their existing A/C by installing a mini-split without making drastic changes to their home structure.
Mini-splits are inexpensive to install and practical, and they grant you the added benefit of being able to change your home temperature with a remote control. Using this remote control you can also power the system off when you leave to save on electricity.
Here’s a recap of what Ductless Split Systems have to offer for you and your family:
- Wireless zone control: Having control over the heating and cooling of distinct areas of your home right from the palm of your hand.
- Cost-effective installation: Mini-splits condition air without the need for ductwork. The installation process is the least disruptive, and once finished, does not require patching or painting spots. For most homeowners, ductless systems are the best bargain as to installation cost.
- High efficiency: According to the United States Department of Energy, a mini-split with a zoning system can save you up to 30% on your utility bill.
